Contest Overview

The Eye Care Section Ocular Photography Contest is open for submissions! Don’t miss your chance to showcase your skills and contribute to the field of ocular photography. The contest will close at 12 pm CET on May 1st, 2025, and winners will be notified at EAOO conference dinner on May 17th, 2025.

Submission Categories

Optometrists are invited to submit up to two entries per category:

  • Anterior Segment Category: Lids, Conjunctiva, Cornea, Contact Lens, Iris, Lens, Angle/Gonioscopy, digital color photo.
  • Posterior Segment Category: Vitreous, Optic Nerve, Retina, Color/Red-free photo, Fluorescein Angiography/ICG, Fundus Auto-fluorescence.

Grand Prize: Complimentary registration to Academy 2026 and publication of the winning image in the Academy’s Fall Newsletter.

The images will be judged by the participants of EAOO 2025, Ljubljana. Attendees will vote for the best images in each category based on the following criteria:
  • Focus
  • Exposure
  • Field of View
  • Difficulty of Capturing Image
  • Absence of Distracting Elements
  • Lighting
  • Visual Impact (the “wow” factor)

Account Requirement: Submissions is done through an EAOO 2025, Ljubljana web page to submit entries.

Format: Submit images in PNG, JPG, JPEG, or GIF formats. No enhancements or modifications allowed.

Submission Limit: Up to two entries per category

Privacy: Photos, captions, and case descriptions must not include any identifying information.

No Emailed Submissions: Only submissions through the official online portal will be accepted.

Language: All submissions must be in English.

Credential Requirements: Only optometrists or equivalent credential holders may be the primary designee for the prize.

Duplicate Entries: Do not re-submit entries to make corrections. Contact the conference organizer to make corrections.

Alterations: The Academy reserves the right to make minor alterations to winning submissions for clarity and aesthetics.

Ocular Photography Contest Application Form

Please enter a single word or short phrase that describes the diagnosis of the case depicted in the image. Avoid using any identifying information such as names, dates, or specific case details

Images must not contain identifying information. File names should not include any identifying info. Images must be in PNG, JPG, JPEG, or GIF format and under 25 MB each.

Images must be original and unmodified. Only 1 images per entry are allowed. Stand-alone images of corneal topography, OCT, etc., are not accepted. The Academy reserves the right to make minor alterations to winning submissions.
